TANDBERG equipment is sold in Italy by dealers. The dealer acts as the importer of the equipment into Italy. Thus the dealer has the legal responsibility to:
-
Register as the WEEE producer in Italy
-
Finance arrangements for collection and recycling
of WEEE arising from TANDBERG equipment that
the dealer sells in Italy
Under
the Italian Decree to implement 2002/96/EC Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive
which came into force on August 13th 2005, for equipment
that you buy from a TANDBERG dealer after December 31st 2008, the dealer is required to finance the
collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of
WEEE that your new purchase replaces, on a one-for-one,
like-for-like basis*. This is providing the weight
of the old equipment is less than double that of
the new purchase. The old equipment that your new
purchase from the TANDBERG dealer replaces is referred
to as Historic WEEE. Under the Italian Decree, this take-back system will be established in 2008.
Under the Decree, the
dealer is also required to finance the collection,
treatment, recycling and recovery of any new electrical
and electronic equipment that you buy from the dealer
after December 31st 2008, when that new equipment
eventually becomes waste. This is referred to as
New WEEE.
TANDBERG
has decided to provide WEEE collection and recycling
on behalf of its dealers in Italy

TANDBERG customers are advised that TANDBERG
does not regard flat-screen monitors that
it sells as a like-for-like replacement
for cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors. Customers
with old CRTs MUST arrange for them to be
collected and disposed of separately as
hazardous waste. |

TANDBERG products are
very competitively priced. Any new increase in operating
costs for manufacturers such as TANDBERG is normally
reflected in a price increase in the product. However,
instead of increasing the prices of our products
TANDBERG has decided to share these new environmental
costs directly with our customers. We believe in
being transparent with you on any new environmental
costs that our products need to address.
Our approach to sharing
these new environmental costs are:
-
You pay for transportation of
your WEEE to TANDBERG’s appointed recycler
in Italy.
-
TANDBERG pays for the costs of
treatment, recycling and recovery of the WEEE
to meet the targets set by the Italian Decree.
-
TANDBERG pays for the costs of
data management and reporting to the Ministry
of Environment to demonstrate compliance with
all administrative requirements of the Italian
Decree
TANDBERG
has established a recycling contract with the European
Advanced Recycling Network (EARN)
and will cover any costs of treatment, recycling
and recovery of the equipment on arrival at the
EARN facility in Italy . All
Historic and New WEEE that arises from the purchase
of TANDBERG products is classed as non-hazardous
waste**.
**
TANDBERG customers sending equipment for
recycling are advised that you MUST remove
all batteries PRIOR to collection to avoid
the equipment being classed as hazardous
waste.
It
is your responsibility to arrange and pay for costs
of collection and transportation to EARN.
In order to meet Italian regulations for waste disposal,
you should use one of the following carriers (which
will hold a valid Waste Carriers License prior to
producer take-back obligations beginning in Italy):
